The second of 5-7 images for the "Extraction" comic, to be produced as part of my Drawing 500 class. This character is based on my friend and gaming partner Keith. His appearance is an amalgamation of "Solid Snake" and "Sam Fisher". It reflects his play style's STRENGTHS a bit more than his preferences, making him a Scout or in this project, the Pointman.
Character name: "Capt." or "Keltcher" or "Captain Brian C. Keltcher" Based on: My friend Keith Rank: Captain Role: Sharpshooter Position: Scout or Pointman (Front)
EQUIPMENT: Armor: 2nd Gen Sneaking Suit with a Level III Body Armor Vest. (All gear is sealed and waterproof.) Primary Weapon: FN P90 SMG -Shoulder strap, Holographic Reflex scope, IR Laser sight, Lamp- [ 3x 50rd Clips 5.7x28mm Armor Piercing] Secondary Weapon: 6in. Dive Knife Sidearm: Mk.23 SOCOM -Prototype LAM unit, Silencer- [3x 12rd Clips .45 ACP Armor Piercing] Other: [1x Flashbang, 1x Smoke Grenade] [2x C4 Charges] [1x Small Med Pack] [Snake Cam] [Throat Radio] [Advanced NVGs] [OPSAT Sub]
REFERENCES AND NOTES: Sneaking Suit and SOCOM Both of these items are directly referencing Solid Snake as seen in Metal Gear Solid. The sneaking suit itself is as old as the ninja, and there are newer versions that utilise recent tech advances. But the version seen here is just doing away with any pretense to modify a proven working model. The Mk.23 SOCOM is a real weapon in wide spread use. The silencer is also a common model but the Prototype LAM is the kicker. This unit never went in to mass production, though we have seen a proliferation of imitation models for airsoft replicas. For me it is the most mechanically and aesthetically pleasing attachment I have seen yet.
NVGs and Dive Knife These are a direct reference to Sam Fisher from the Splinter Cell series, because Keith LOVES Sam. The dive knife is used more as a reference of Sam, but it also supports the characters amphibious role. The goggles however are formally and functionally awesome. This particular design is pulled from a similar derivitive item seen on GAIA. I have not yet seen a set of NVG goggles that are this compact, but they are getting smaller. The 3-dot look however, is very common, Sam Fisher aside.
Other Images [link] The original concept design for Capt. This was also an image he commissioned.
Fantastic work, Young Master! One of the things I have noticed with your work ... something a lot of us need to work on out there ... is the lighting used within the image. Splendid work!
